Difference Between Natural Sand And Artificial Sand

1. Appearance

The artificial sand is a kind of sand and stone material obtained by the professional sand making equipment such as impact crusher. Compared with the natural river sand, the artificial sand has the characteristics of sharp edges and corners, many needles and flakes, and rough.

From the appearance, we can also distinguish the artificial sand and river sand:

River sand is directly excavated from the river, so it will be mixed with small pebbles and fine sand. These pebbles are scoured by the river for a long time, and their edges and corners are relatively smooth. The artificial sand produced by sand and stone equipment has sharp edges and corners, and its firmness is worse than river sand.

2. Firmness and durability

Therefore, the mud content of natural sand directly affects the composition of concrete strength.

The powder content of artificial sand is the ground rock powder less than 0.075mm, which can not react with cement hydration, but it has a good connection with cement crystal stone, and plays the filling effect of micro aggregate in the internal layout.

In fact, if the powder content of the artificial sand does not exceed 20%, it has no adverse effect on the coagulation time and strength development of the concrete, and it has a good performance in the workability, pumpability and strength of the added concrete mixture.

4. Adhesion and compression resistance

The particle size of artificial sand is irregular. When using cement and other structural bonding, it often has better adhesion, more compression resistance and longer service life.

5. Composition

Generally, artificial sand making is the raw material selected by people, with uniform and stable material, consistent mineral and chemical composition with the raw material, not as complex as natural sand.

6. Fineness modulus

General natural sand, a kind of fineness modulus, can have a variety of gradations. The fineness modulus of artificial sand can be controlled artificially through the production process, and the production can be organized according to the user’s requirements, which can not be achieved by natural sand.
